Here’s a new remix I did under my #Mankoora name, an Afrotropical sunshine song with a slight pop-appeal which I put more into the Latin corner with a nice cumbia feel.
Now available on 7" and digital via Agogo Records or the record shop of your choice.
There’s a new 12", coming end of October on Homeless Soul Music
entitled ‘Engira Road’. Limited to 300 hand numbered copies, housed in a
white inside out sleeve. It’s not a ROJ release, but I hope you enjoy
it anyways. Kind of Afro/Deep-House music I made under my own name, with a touch of Broken Beat and lots of rhodes goodness.
The picture on the cover shows the house in the Engira Road (Engineer
Road) where my family and I lived during our stay in Arusha/Tanzania in
the early 1980s. Drawn by the supertalented nemoy who is also the labelhead of Homeless Soul Music in Switzerland. Xx
After the release of ‘Moyo Wangu’ in September 2016 it quickly sold out nearly everyhwere. Only a few copies are left on the second hand market. Thanks to everyone who supported the release and bought a copy.
Even the reactions to the album have been great. Playing this album for more than three years now in my sets, it feels good to know that a lot of other DJs have included tracks from the album to their sets.
There will be a remixed version of the album out in November 2017.
“Afro Cookie” is the first single to be taken from David Hanke’s
forthcoming album ‘Moyo Wangu’ under his Renegades Of Jazz
name.
'Moyo Wangu’ (My heart) reflects on the years he spent during
his early childhood with his parents in Arusha/Tanzania,
showcasing twelve songs made out of his love for Afrofunk and
recalling the time he spent there.
The first song “Afro Cookie” has the distinctive Renegades Of Jazz
sound, a modern Afrofunk anthem, which was also the starting point
back for the 'Moyo Wangu’ album and refers to his personal link to
Africa.
On the flip side, the track 'Pounding Song’ with it’s traditional sung
chants is a work song in a dust infused uptempo Afrojazz treatment.
Pre-order the 7" or digitally here and listen to Afro Cookie here.
Really happy to let you you know that my new album is nearly ready for the pressing plant. Based on the years I lived in Tanzania in the early 1980′s I produced an Afrofunk like album with 12 titles, due out early 2016 on Agogo Records.
Agogo Records released a new label compilation called Hits Agogo One. The compilation features the Label artists with classic hits and new and exclusive tracks with a “Name your price” option via Bandcamp.
There will be also a CD version avaialble on the 14th of January 2016 which can be already pre-ordered. On the compilation you will find my song “Tempo Tempo”, as well as a previously unreleased remix version of Mo’ Horizons’ “Free & Easy” in a Blues/Gospel style.
Polish producer Martin Cichy aka Meeting By Chance (and also one half of Skapel) just released the Conversation album, a collaboration between Krivitsky (a producer for library music) and Marcin Cichy on Plug Audio.
Right Now! is the orignal is a Jazz driven composition which is now also as Afrojazz remix from Renegades Of Jazz available. Listen to the remix here.
The Hidden Jazz Quartett returns with Tap On The Backdoor with Greg Blackman featured on vocals who again proves his magic by writing the lyrics and performing them on this wonderful piece of uptempo Jazz made for the dance floors.
A Renegades Of Jazz remix can be found on the flipside of this 7″ which has already gotten airplay on The Craig Charles Funk & Soul Show on BBC6 Music.
For the second single off Ursula 1000’s Voyeur album, Clap Your Hands
harks back to that classic big beat break action era with its infectious
call and response party vibe. This is pure Ursula with its retro meets
future feel. Germany’s Renegades Of Jazz pump up the horns on this mod
funk monster while France’s Minmatic completely flips the song in a deep
house groover with pulsating keys. UK breakbeat kings Skeewiff
reconfigure things in a 60s northern soul fashion perfect for your
parka/scooter romp. Washington DC’s Sons Of Satin strip things, pump the
bass and bring the glitch hop/twerk to the plate. Out now!
